
While Returning Home From the Airport
GEORGETOWN, GUYANA — Tragedy struck a Corentyne family early Monday morning while returning home after dropping off a relative at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
Reports are that the exhausted driver fell asleep at the wheel and crashed his car into a parked truck. A woman was instantly killed and her daughter and mother were seriously injured. The driver is also seriously hurt.
The accident, according to a Demerara Waves online news report, occurred on the Number 58 Village Public Road. The driver of the car, according to the police, admitted that he fell asleep at the wheel.

Dead is 52-year old Soorojine “Pammy” Surjraj of Lot 1506 Crabwood Creek, Corentyne. Injured are her daughter 15-year old Neha Sukra, Pammy’s 70-year old mother Khemnie Surjraj and the driver, 25-year old Avinash Premnauth.
Reports are that the impact of the crash was so severe that it pushed the truck forward causing it to hit another parked truck, which was also shifted about a meter and a half forward.
Witnesses present in a bus shed a short distance away from the accident, according to Demerara Waves, recalled hearing the loud sound of the crash and rushed to the scene where they immediately rendered assistance.
