NYC, June 2022 — Toronto based Comedian, Actor, Playwright and Director, Rhoma Spencer will headline the Caribbean Comedy Show as part of the 3rd Annual Black Women in Comedy Laff Fest on Thursday June 16.
The legendary Gotham Comedy Club in Manhattan will welcome Caribbean- American Heritage Month with this revue that has on its bill Eva Evans, Lois Thompson, Zabrina Douglas and hosted by Trinidad American sketch comedian, Susan Kennedy with radio personality, Ian D Goose Eligon of Team Soca Radio on the turntables.
The Black Women in Comedy Laff Fest was founded by New York based comedian, Joanna Briley who saw a need to introduce this festival when she observed many national Comedy Festivals had a noted absence of Black women in their lineup.
Now in its third year, this juried festival sees women comics coming in from Canada and across the US. “It was necessary for me to highlight Rhoma Spencer who is a legend within the Trinidad and Tobago Diaspora and the many other comics who are of Caribbean heritage in the festival during the Caribbean- American Heritage Month,” said Briley.
The festival runs from June 15-19 at popular Comedy Clubs in Manhattan, Harlem and Brooklyn. For further information visit their website at www.bwiclafffest.com.
