Today, we are proud of one of our own representing the Indo-Caribbean community. Lakshmee Singh, host of the show “Let’s Talk With Lakshmee” recently sat down with former Essence magazine editor-in-chief and owner of bed-and-breakfast, Akwaaba Inn, Monique Greenwood.
The interview was based on the new reality show “Checked Inn” that will be aired on the Oprah Winfrey Network on Nov 21, 2017.
Akwaaba Inn, which opened its doors in Brooklyn, New York, in 1995, features top of the line amenities and offers excellent hospitality and a comfy stay for couples, singles or just anyone looking to take a break from every day life.
Akwaaba has four different locations, each offering maximum variety. You can enjoy your stay in Washington DC; Cape May, New Jersey; Bethany, Pennsylvanie, or the flagship residence based in Brooklyn, New York.
“The number one thing you should invest in is you,” Monique said, adding “I think too often we don’t take a chance on ourselves.”
Lakshmee’s interview was an opportunity to bridge the gap between the American and Caribbean cultures. Two women from different backgrounds, talented in their own ways, came together and instantly hit it off. Monique and Lakshmee shared great chemistry during the interview. Sparks went off as Lakshmee asked a question that prompted Monique to remark, “you’re a great journalist for asking that question.”
OWN’s new reality TV show ‘Checked Inn’ (#CheckedInn) gives an intimate look of Monique Greenwood’s B&B business, Akwaaba Bed & Breakfast Inns (NY, NJ, DC) and an insight into Monique as the next new reality TV star!
Set at The Mansion at Noble Lane in Poconos, Pennsylvania, the former Woolworth estate, Monique (Akwaaba) welcomes couples who seek to save their marriages, re-ignite their passion and celebrate life’s most exciting events.
Make sure you are tuned in on November 21, 2017 as the next best reality show begins!
