A message from Pandit Chunelall Narine, Priest-in-Charge, Shri Trimurti Bhavan:
Namaskar! We must first thank the Lord for His blessings and a beautiful day that made our Holi celebrations a grand success. We would also like to thank all our supporters, including NYPD and NY1 News for their cooperation. Holi is always a special time of the year when winter winds down and preparation for spring begins. Basant Panchmi gives us the sounds of the beautiful Chowtaal singing.
We salute the original Chowtaal Goal of the USA founded by Dharmacharya Pt. Oumadatt Maharaj and which has been as vibrant as ever! Hats off to Behen Seeta Oumadatt and the group. The Mahatma Gandhi Satsang Society are the original pioneers.
The Trimurti Chowtaal Goal is an offspring of the original. We thank its leaders Bhai Hanso and Behen Shanta Brijmohan for the sacrifices they make to keep our culture alive. Both Lakshmee Singh and Angeli Maystray Ramdin added extra color and rhythm to the proceedings, as did Saras Dance Group. Randy Ramdin who really rocked the stage with his upbeat melodies.
Guyana’s Consul General to New York, the Hon Barbara Atherly had lots of fun too as did Imran Ahmad of ITV. Special thanks to Naya Fasana Orchestra and the Ramoutar boys as well as DJ Navin Phagu of Galaxy Sounds for providing live entertainment. We were thrilled to have Dharamacharya Pt. Ramlall who celebrated his 90th birthday with us.
Our Tassa Group with Hemo ji, was brilliant! The Sanasani Dance Group was phenomenal. Thank you Akash Krsna Kanha for all you do for this community and our Mandir! The children of the Queens Hindu Mandir impressed everyone with their melodious Chowtaal singing, thank you! And to our very own Rakesh Prashad who captured it all on video, a special thank you! To Val and Suruj and to our kitchen staff, a million thank you would not be enough. May the Lord continue to bless you and to our entire Trimurti Family. We will see you during Navratri and the rest of the religious festivals.
