PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – Police are probing the death of a 28-year-old Uber driver, whose body was found in bushes on Mucurapo Road on the outskirts of the capital on Thursday night.
Police said that relatives of Christopher Mohammed had last seen earlier in the day driving his vehicle in east Trinidad.
Media reports here said that his body was found Thursday night in the west of the island. The reports said the body bore a single gun shot wound to the head.
The Trinidad and Tobago government has not officially given permission for Uber to operate here. But many local motorists are involved in the programme that allows a passenger to call for a car with a smartphone running the Uber application with the driver then taking the passenger to his/her destination.
So far this year, more than 200 people have been murdered in Trinidad and Tobago. – CMC
