Police Force Declares Day of Mourning for Slain Cops


KINGSTON, Jamaica (CMC) – The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JSF), has designated Monday as a day of mourning to remember two cops who were killed recently, in the central parish of St. Catherine.

It’s reported that on June 12, a police team conducted an operation in the community of Horizon Park in the parish, when they came under attack.

In the long run, Constable Decardo Hylton and Corporal Dane Biggs were killed, five other cops were injured.

The main suspect, Damion Mailton, 39, was eventually shot and killed in the Corporate Area.

Monday, will also be used to honour the 194 officers who have been killed in the course of their duties over the last two decades.

Writing in the Force Orders on Friday, Commissioner of Police Major General Antony Anderson said from 6am to 6pm (local time), the JCF flag will be flown at half mast.

Moments of silence, the wearing of black by non-uniformed personnel and strips of black by those in uniform are being encouraged during the period. – CMC
